Meet Emily: Marketing Manager

Where is your happiest place outside?

Anywhere I can gather and connect with the people I love! Since moving to Pennsylvania earlier this year, I developed a deeper appreciation for my parents’ backyard. I grew up and have spent most of my life in Syracuse, NY. Whenever I go home, I spend as much time as I can enjoying the tranquil Upstate yard, which sits on top of a hill and always has a gentle cross-breeze.

Bordered by trees that are lush in the summer and vibrant in the fall, it’s the gathering place when I’m home. It’s where I visit with my parents and family friends, where I enjoy coffee in the morning and delish dinners from the grill in the evening. All it’s missing is a campfire!

Tell us how you first discovered Firelight Camps.

My wonderful college friend is getting married this fall (1 week after me!) and she chose Firelight Camps for her bachelorette party. I was thrilled when her maid of honor sent us the invitation and I immediately followed Firelight on Instagram to learn more about the brand before visiting.

For months leading up to the bachelorette weekend, I marveled at the imagery of the glampgrounds and luxury safari tents. Firelight was my first glamping experience, so the Glamper’s Essential Packing List was very helpful when getting ready for the weekend!

What was the most memorable part of your stay?

Nighttime hangs around the campfire! Both nights of the bachelorette party, we chose to stay at Firelight for drinks around the campfire rather than venturing into a crowded bar. We spent hours playing games, laughing, roasting marshmallows, reconnecting (and connecting! Some of us hadn’t met before the weekend).

When we packed up on Sunday morning, we all agreed that the weekend was the most unique bachelorette party and we were grateful to share our first glamping experience with each other!

As Firelight's new marketing manager, what are you most excited to bring to the table, either from your past experience or something new?

Coming from the agency side, I’ve had the opportunity to work with many startups across a variety of industries as they built and scaled their brands. I’m ecstatic to join the Firelight team, applying my experience with blossoming startups to further materialize Bobby & Emma’s vision of building the premiere glamping brand.

Firelight started with a love story and I’m excited to join this chapter, collaborating with our amazing camp hosts to capture and share day-to-day camp life as we build the Firelight tribe!

Congratulations, you're getting married in October! What are you most looking forward to with this big milestone?

Thank you! My fiancé and I have had a blast celebrating with family and friends at our pre-wedding festivities. As wonderful as our engagement has been, I’m most excited to start our married life! We’re traveling to Hawaii for our honeymoon in November and hosting our first Thanksgiving when we return! We love to travel together and have been daydreaming about 2019 adventures. I’m most looking forward to building a life well-traveled, well-loved, and well-lived with my best friend!

Tell us about your adorable puppy (and when she'll be visiting us at Firelight Camps)?

Eloise! Oh I could talk about her all day long, so this is a well-placed question. I brought Eloise home from Helping Hounds in November 2015. She is charming and precocious, which inspired me to name her after one of my favorite characters, Eloise at The Plaza. I’m biased, of course, but I’ve watched her charm her way into countless family, friends’, neighbors’ and strangers’ hearts. She is a dachshund-terrier mix with a penchant for snuggling.

When I met my fiancé, I became a dog-mom of 2! He raised his goldendoodle puppy, Maverick, before we met. Although Maverick is 3x the size of Eloise, they absolutely love playing together and make quite the pair. Hopefully my fiancé and the pups can all visit Firelight Camps before the season ends!
