Robert Frisch | Co-Founder & CEO
Robert was the co-founder and co-owner of a recently sold boutique hostel and restaurant in Nicaragua called “La Buena Onda.” He holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA ’13 from the Johnson School at Cornell University, where he was a Roy Park Leadership Fellow and ran Cornell’s startup incubator as an ELAB fellow. Robert was a Peace Corps volunteer in Nicaragua, and has provided hospitality consulting services for the National Parks Service, Itza Lodge in Belize, and the luxury tent rental company, Contentment Camping. Emma Frisch | Director of Brand and Food & Beverage
In 2014, Emma and her husband, Bobby, co-founded Firelight Camps in Ithaca, NY, the premier glamping destination on the east coast. As co-owner and culinary director, Emma oversees food programming, food product development, merchandise and marketing, while developing new plans for expansion to other properties. In 2009, Emma and Robert opened La Buena Onda in Nicaragua, their first boutique hotel and café, which they sold in 2014. Emma was a top finalist on Food Network Star Season 10 and is the author of emmafrisch.com, with over 500 original recipes and cooking videos. Over the past decade, Emma has worked with nonprofits to help build healthier regional food systems in the northeast U.S., Kenya and as a Fulbright Scholar in Ecuador. She was the co-founder and executive director of the crowdfunding platform PEAKS, and is a founding member of Groundswell International. She holds a B.A. in Food Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. She is currently writing her first cookbook, Feast by Firelight, to be published in Spring 2018 by Ten Speed Press. Matt Moss | Senior Vice President, Head of Business Development
Matt has a passion for innovative, experiential hospitality and extensive experience acquiring, developing and managing hospitality and commercial properties. He was co-founder and developer of The Cooper Square Hotel, a $130 million / 145-room new-build hotel in Manhattan (now The Standard East Village), and co-managed the property from opening until its sale to Andre Balazs’ HotelsAB. Before building and managing The Cooper Square Hotel, Matt oversaw the development of over $100 million of commercial and residential real estate at East End Properties, a real estate development and management firm affiliated with The Related Companies. He holds a B.A. in Economics and Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. Matt lives in New York with his wife and three children.
Emily Leedy | Marketing Manager
Emily joined the Firelight team in 2018, with a passion for travel and building awesome brands through integrated marketing solutions. Before landing at Firelight, Emily worked with e-commerce startups as a senior account manager at a digital marketing company specializing in search engine optimization (SEO). She holds an M.A. in Communication and Rhetorical Studies from Syracuse University, where she taught undergraduate Public Speaking courses, and a B.A. in Communications from Nazareth College. Emily lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and two pups.
Elaine Bobkowski | Assistant Manager, Ithaca NY
Elaine joined the team in 2015, with an avid enthusiasm for hospitality, nature, and ornithology. As a Finger Lakes' native, she brings a strong sense of regional pride to camp. Paired with a passion for travel and adventure, she has a knack for connecting with Firelight Camps' guests. Elaine has worked her way up from Camp Host to Assistant Manager of operations at the glampground. She organizes our Weekly "Firelight Live" Local Music series, and has hosted two art shows at Firelight, featuring nature-based photography from her travels around the country.
